PreambleHide | Paper Christmas ornaments can boast an old tradition. They were very popular because everybody was able to produce them easily by themselves, according to their own pleasure. Manifold figures are created by simply cutting and folding : stars, chains, baskets, crowns, nets, bags, bowls and much more. A chapter on its own are the scraps or die-cuts, that are printed, embossed pictures about all conceivable themes: angels, Santas, children, fir trees, fancy figures and so on. They were glued on gingerbreads, but equally used for the tree decoration on Christmas day. Papier Mache, a mixture of soaked paper shreds and glue, is very moldable and durable, so best suited for the making of Christmas ornaments. Finally, we won't forget Crepe Paper, especially used as colorful addition to cotton ornaments. |
